"I remember the date because it was my birthday, a helicopter lands in the middle of Carisbrook. Still nervous from the flight I stepped out to the sound of 42,000 people drowning out the sound of the helicopter. Making my way to a small stage in front of the terraces I plugged in my guitar and started strummung out the start of the "Southern Man" with the crowd joining as soon as I started singing, that day will live with me forever. If you were there I hope it was as memorable for you as it was for me. For the record Otago won the NPC that year so I got to do it all again for the final. If you were there thank you for making those great memories"
