Field of Remembrance
The SCRSA has over 1000 crosses that represent soldiers that never returned from WWI from our area. These crosses were constructed during the WW100 Centenary and are displayed yearly at Caroline Bay during the week of ANZAC day.
We are working on providing a list of names on these crosses, so watch this space.
We have fantastic support from the community for the setup and pack up of these crosses, so thank you to those who help us!! We are also supported by the Timaru District Council Parks Department, who mark out the field for us so they are straight and quick to install.
The SCRSA would like to thank the members of the Timaru Community Menzshed who, in 2023, constructed boxes for the safe storage of our crosses. This project was not possible without donations from the following generous organisations and individuals:
Sanford Limited, PrimePort Timaru Limited, BuildLink Timaru, Taylored Building LTD, Noone Plus Ltd, Ford Simpson Ltd, Mike Pero Real Estate Timaru, Barrett Joinery Ltd, Kennedy Aluminium, Nolan Building Ltd, Nolan Painting Ltd, Shore Construction, Timaru Signs & Graphix, Corporate Print, Jmac Joinery, Starwood Ltd, Desmond Prisk Architects, Alliance Group Smithfield, Craig McIsaac and Aaron Bates.
