The South Canterbury RSA organises commemoration and remembrance services for the community in Timaru for ANZAC Day and Armistice Day.

We also assist with the Poppy Day collection for the SC RSA Poppy Charitable Trust.

POPPY DAY - Friday 19 April 2024
We would like to thank the sites that allowed us to collect for Poppy Day this year.

Thanks also to the retailers who allowed us to leave a Poppy Box on their counter!!

ANZAC DAY - 25 April 2024 - Timaru Services

Our 2024 services include:

6.15AM - DAWN SERVICE - Held at the Cenotaph - Queen Street, Timaru

Note this is slightly later than usual start as a trial this year.  0605 muster for the parade.  Parade assembles on the hospital side.

7.00AM - CEMETERY SERVICE - Timaru Cemetery - Domain Ave, Timaru

9.45AM - CIVIC SERVICE - Caroline Bay Soundshell

Parade falls in at 9.45am and marches past the Field of Remembrance.
Our Civic Service includes flyover, haka, speeches, poems, hymns, wreath laying and a field gun firing.

ANZAC FUNCTION
After the completion of the Civic Service commemorations continue at the Timaru Town and Country Club.

Entertainment will be provided by the South Canterbury Highland Pipe Band and The Drama Queens will be performing from 1-4pm

ARMISTICE DAY - 11 NOVEMBER - Timaru Services

Our usual short service is held at 11am.  In 2024 it will be held at the new memorial gates at the Fraser Park stadium on Church Street.
